Custom Keepsakes Newsletter July 2014 (16 Jul 2014)

July 2014

Hello Friends!  I hope you are all doing well and enjoying some summertime fun, as well as embroidery and sewing fun!  I've had a very busy travel schedule since we have been in touch, with lots of great sewing shows all over the country.  It was great meeting so many new people.  If you are new to the Newsletter, welcome!

Sweet Summer Sale!

If you missed the "Like" Custom Keepsakes sale in January, here is another big savings opportunity for you.  From now until the end of July, take 25% off all Custom Keepsakes Embroidery Collections!  This is a great time to check which ones you already own, and get the ones you are missing!  When you check out, just enter the code SWEET and the discount will be applied.  Shop now!

Sweet Summer Tote

To go along with the Sweet Summer Sale, we have a Sweet Summer Tote!   This is a fun and simple summer project in cheery yellow cottons, especially when you add a cute embroidered pocket flap!  The basic bag pattern is Butterick 5659.  If you think you might want to do this bag, pick up the pattern before it is discontinued.

I am providing you with a free embroidery design for the blank scalloped flap, in all formats.  Add whatever floral design you like to the bottom point of the flap. The floral on the sample bag is  from the Heirloom 1 Collection, which so many of you already have!  See the Project Detail Sheet for full instructions on how to modify this bag, plus the design download info.

Harriet's Heirlooms

My beautiful daughters are now 20 and 26, but when they were small, I was VERY seriously addicted to heirloom sewing.  I could not get enough!  So now, my granddaughter Harriet has dress-up clothing fit for a princess, and LOTS OF IT.  I want to share a few of these garments with you here in the Newsletter as she grows.  They won't have machine embroidery on them because they were made before I had an embroidery machine, but I hope you will still consider them relevant and hopefully idea-inspiring.  The pattern shown is Martha Pullen's classic Heirloom Party Dress which can be found in a few of her older publications.  It's just a basic, high yoke dress, but it's the simplest and best there is.  It is ecru swiss batiste with ecru french laces.  Harriet's Aunt Kate wore a beauty pin on the front (which I can no longer find, of course.)  I am currently working on a little baptism dress for Harriet, which will be a very simple, knee length dress with just a touch of embroidery.  Photos and details later!

New Collection for 18" Dolls

I know that so many of you are anxiously awaiting the release of the new dolly Collection.  It is coming, I promise!  Perfection cannot be rushed!  You'll be the first four thousand people to know!
